Dreamweaver Form Creation

A web based Flash demonstration of the following instructions are also available on the following site:Form2Excel Website

Open your Existing HTML form in Dreamweaver. Highlight the Form you wish to update. Then Select “Insert Form2Excel” from the “Commands” menu

Specify an “Upload Folder”. This is where your data file will be located on the server. Please note that if you are converting an existing Frontpage form your data will now be found in whatever folder you specify during this stage of set-up, Frontpage saved your data in a folder called “private.” The private folder will still exist on your website, but it will no longer collect data, all new data will be collected in whatever folder you specify during this conversion process

Also, specify your E-mail address and the locations of your success and failure landing pages for form submission. Your users will be sent to one of these pages after they submit data, its best practice to have both a page letting a user know that data was successfully uploaded, and one that lets them know if there was an error.

Instructions for the First Form on Your Site

Once you have completed the wizard , you will see a new folder appear called “HDWForm2Excel,” which will hold the data that is being submitted by your users. Be sure to upload this folder and your webpage back on the server. After you push this folder to the server with Dreamweaver it will hold the form data submitted by your users. During the form creation process you were asked by the wizard to name an upload folder, this folder will be inside the HDWForm2Excel folder and will hold your user data.

Instuctions if you've already created a form on your Site

Once you have completed the wizard , you will see a new folder appear called “HDWForm2Excel.” Be sure to upload only the webpage back on the server, you do not need to upload the HDWForm2Excel folder - in fact it will overwrite your data. The “upload folder” you specified while using the form wizard will show up on the server and hold your user data.
